Pressure has mounted on the FUFA competitions department following a decision made from the FUFA Exco Meeting directing them to schedule dates and formats in which the 3rd Division leagues across the country will be played.
FUFA 3rd Division leagues were halted in March last year following the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic across the globe, and ever since then, all plans that were put into place to resume the leagues were abandoned citing strict COVID Standard Operating Procedures set by the government to curb the deadly virus.
Regional Leagues were initially set to kick off on the 27th February 2021, but he decision was later rescinded aftwr clubs expressing concern on the challenge that fulfilling all the required SOPs set by the government which included taking Covid-19 tests before each match, and camping all the players and staff presented.
But during the 24th FUFA Executive Meeting held on 30th April 2021 at FUFA Complex in Mengo chaired by the FUFA President Engineer Moses Magogo, the Exco members tasked the competitions department to come up with the appropriate format of play for all the eight FUFA Regions across the country.
This is a big task at hand handled to the competitions department since the player’s licenses are only valid till 30th June 2021.
With less than two months remaining, we are waiting to see how appropriate the FUFA competitions department is going to handle a task that seems impossible on paper.
