Nigeria’s Flying Eagles on Friday defeated the Young Carthage Eagles of Tunisia 4-0 to finish third in the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.
In the third-place match at the Cairo International Stadium on Friday, the Flying Eagles took the lead in the 9th minute through Ibrahim Muhammad, while Ahmed Abdullahi got the second goal in the 46th of the match.
The Flying Eagles, which dominated proceedings in the second half got the third goal through Jude Sunday in the 48th of the match.
Jude Sunday got his brace when he scored the team’s fourth goal and increased the team’s tally to 4-0.
The Gambian team that defeated Nigeria 1-0 will play the Senegalese team in the finals of the tournament at the Cairo International Stadium on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Senegal, Gambia, Nigeria and Tunisia have qualified to represent Africa in the FIFA U-20 World Cup to be hosted by Indonesia from May 20 to June 11, 2023.
