Qatar authorities on Monday,November 13,2022 , arrested three individuals of different nationalities, for reselling tickets for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 through unofficial platforms.
World Cup tickets can be resold only through specified outlets that are approved by FIFA and the host country.
This is in violation of the text of Article No. (19) of Law No. (10) of 2021, which states FIFA has the sole and exclusive right to issue, distribute and sell tickets, and it is not permissible to issue, sell, resell, redistribute or exchange tickets without a license from FIFA or its authorized representative.
The Doha government called on the public to abide by the FIFA laws and procedures, regulating to the process of reselling tickets in order to avoid the penalties stipulated in Article (38) / paragraph (2) of the same law, which states that a fine of no more than two hundred and fifty thousand riyals shall be imposed on whoever: violates the provisions of Article (19) / second paragraph of this law, and the penalty shall be multiplied by the number of tickets subject of the violation, and in all cases the court shall order the confiscation of the violating materials.
The violators have been referred to the competent authorities to carry out the procedures followed in this regard.
A fine imposition of 250,000 Qatar riyals, (66, 820,€) multiplied by the number of tickets concern.
The authorities did not reveal the quantity of tickets in question or the price they were said to have been sold for.
