Victoria United of Limbe has become the first elite two club to secure promotion to the top tier of Cameroon football after their brilliant 2#0 victory against Aigle of Moungo in a day 24 fixture of the MTN Elite Two championship played at the Limbe Centenary stadium.

Two penalties converted by Djacba were enough for Opopo to grab all three points and secure elite one qualification.

The success story of Victoria United began during the 2021/2022 football season in the South West Regional League where they overcame all obstacles on their way to emerging as regional league champions.

At the 2022 national interpools that took place in Limbe, Victoria United emerged runners-up and consequently qualified for the Elite Two championship.

In the current 2022/2023 elite two championship, Victoria United has swept aside almost every team. They have recorded the most number of victories (13), the highest in the second-tier championship.

Out of 23 matches played by the Limbe-based club, they have won 13, draw 4, and had 6 defeats; picking up 43 points in a possible 69.

Victoria United has been very consistent for the past two seasons; winning the South West Regional League, emerging runners-up in the national playoffs and qualifying for the Elite 2 championship and just a season there, they have emerged champions and secured an elite One ticket.

With one match left for Victoria United, the team is sure of finishing top of the elite two championship.

They will travel to Bertoua on match day 25 to take on Stade FC Bertoua.
