Hasaacas Ladies head coach Abdul Yusif Basigi has said he is winning both the Women’s Premier League and the FA Cup trophies to complete a double this season.

Hasmal Ladies who are the sole representative for Ghana in the CAF Women’s Champions League will battle with old-time rivals Ampem Darkoa Ladies in the finals of the Women’s Premier League.

Hasaacas Ladies, winners of the Southern Zone face-off against Ampem Darkoa Ladies, who won the Northern Sector in the final of finals on Saturday June 26 at the Madina AstroTurf Park.

While Ampem Darkoa are searching for the third major league title, record winners Hasaacas Ladies are looking to extend their title hauls to four.

This will be the latest installment of what is shaping up to be the biggest clash in women’s football league in the country.

Hasaacas Ladies have a history with Ampem Darkoa in title deciders.

Their last meeting was in 2019 during the final of the Ghana FA Normalization Committee Special Competition. Hasaacas Ladies beat Ampem Darkoa 3-2 on that occasion to be crowned winners.

That victory was revenge for that painful loss to Ampem Darkoa in 2016. On that occasion, Ampem Darkoa inflicted a 1-0 defeat on Hasaacas Ladies to win their only major league title.

The two also met in 2015 which Hasaacas Ladies beat Ampem Darkoa 1-0 in 2015 in the final.

The renewal of the rivalries on Saturday will serve a beautiful spectacle for observers who enjoy women’s football.

Aside the Women’s Premier league finals, the two teams will also face off in the grand finale of the Women’s FA Cup on July 2 in a cagey encounter.

Inasmuch as Ampem Darkoa has recently reinforced their squad with some extraordinary players, coach Yusif Basigi who is also the assistant coach of the Ghana U23 side believes Hasaacas Ladies have what it takes to beat Ampem Darkoa Ladies in the two finals to clinch the double this season – a thing he has targeted before the start of the league season.

Speaking to Ghana- Takoardi Base Radio Station Ahoto FM, coach Yusif Basigi explained that though Ampem Darkoa boast of some individual talents, he has the best of squad that will penalized their rivals for the two enviable trophies.

“I know the magnitude of the two games because I have been there on several occasions… I also agree that they [Ampem Darkoa] have a good team but we [Hasaacas Ladies] are more than capable of beating them in the two games for the trophies”, he said.

On injury situations in camp, coach Yusif Basigi stated that all his squad are fit and ready for the big tasks, divulging that it was only striker Milot Abena Pokuaa who was on suspension due to accumulated cards but she will be available for selection in both games.

Touching on the team’s preparations for the two games, the highly experienced tactician said training has been overwhelming and his ladies involvement in training is a testimony that they will smack Ampem Darkoa Ladies in the two games for the trophies…
