The President of the Centre Regional Basketball League, Yves Tsala has announced his candidacy for the post of President at the Cameroon Basketball Federation, prior to the upcoming elections. The declaration was made public, during a press conference in Yaounde at the Multipurpose Sports Complex on Saturday, November 5,2022.
The former basketball player and head coach intends to use his rich and skillful experience to revive, the Cameroonian basketball whose development has been delayed due to poor governance, lack of communication, lack of transparency, inadequate training of coaches, players, referees and the exclusion of former basketball players in decision making.
Yves’ synthesis basketball development project for Cameroon, is placed under the theme; »Draw A New Vision « .Emphasis will be lied on the following;
-Creation of organizational commissions to ameliorate, the practice of corpo basketball, handicap- basketball, the promotion of youth and female basketball competitions.
-Formation
Focus will be lied on the creation of a national training program, based on three axis namely; coaches, officials and administrators. Adding to that, will be the holding of two seasonal gathering for these above-mentioned trainees, with updates to be done on the official fecabasket website.
-Championships
Competitions will be organized at the divisional, regional, and national levels under decent conditions for the players and technicians.
To see the lamplight, will be the creation of a new championship dubbed » Elite » ,to be played all over the national territory.
– Detection of talents
The National Technical Direction will have the responsibility, to create the Cameroonian National Basketball Academy, for the under 13,16 and 18 players. As well as,prepare more youths to participate in the Youth Afrobasket competition.
Another aspect considered as a preoccupation, for the to be President of the Cameroon Basketball Federation, will be the quest for a marketing and communication strategy to boost her finances.
Considered as one of the most active basketball promoter, within the Centre region through the organization of the Centre Region Basketball Awards (CRBA)and other major competitions, Tsala is highly backed by a cross section of former and active basketball players, the basketball women’s association and other entities.
It is worthy of note that, the present management of the Cameroon Basketball Federation has been in office for over a period of 15 years, and Cameroon has recorded no trophy at the international levels under their leadership.
