Head coach Oumarou Sokba announced his resignation from mythical Union Sportif of Douala on Monday, April 3rd.
Having arrived at the club in October 2021, Herman Oumarou Sokba only went on to make a year and a half in the dugouts.
“I (Oumarou Sokba) wish to inform the club of my resignation from the position of head coach of Union Sportif of Douala – partly due to insecurity, and the other, due to the fact that this year’s objectives “playoffs” were not attained.” Part of the gaffer’s resignation letter reads.
According to our sources, he had been caught between in the club’s internal squabbles for some time. The disappointing results on the pitch did not help matters.
The weekend’s draw against AS Fortuna took Union away from the Play-offs, the club’s main objective at the start of the season.
Sokba who had renewed his contract by the start of the season for two years will not witness the remaining 4 days of the regular season in the championship.
Sokba marked his time with Union of Douala, just like he did with Fauve Azur, UMS de Loum, Djiko FC de Bandjoun and Apejes de Mfou with whom he won the Cameroon Cup in 2017.
