42-year-old Cameroon Women’s national head coach, Serge Christian Guebogo has died on Tuesday, February 14,2023 a brief illness.

The sad news was officially made public by the officials of the Cameroon Handball Federation via social media.

Affectionately called « Guinness », Guebogo was appointed coach of the women’s national team since 2019, and he went on to make four successful years in his position.

As the Women’s Handball head coach, he won a silver medal at the 2019 women’s handball tournament in the All African Games in Morocco, only four months after his appointment as coach of the Handball Lionesses, which got him off to a perfect start.

Before his term with the handball Lionesses, Guebogo was coach of TKC. The man who had an imposing build, caught the eye first at Tonner, as assistant to coach Ayissi Noah with the Junior selection between (2005-2007) and then he got promoted to the senior team from 2012 to 2016, where he won championship and cup titles before getting fired.

Players decided to back him on a new project called Dynamique de Bokito handball dames where he played the African Championship, and other African competitions. Before Guebo’s death, he guided Cameroon to the 2023 World Women’s handball Championship to be hosted between by: Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

The skillful and competent handball gaffer ended as two-time runner-up at the African Championship in 2021 and 2022.
