According to the former Black Stars coach, Kotoko is only a big name and not a big team, as they are usually referred to.

“I know Kotoko fans won’t be happy with this but I must say it,” Barreto said this in an interview with Ghana – Kumasi Base Radio Station Nhyira FM.

“Kotoko is only a big name and not a not a big team because they lack so many things a big team should be having.

“A big team should be having their own physiotherapy room, a strong youth team, philosophy, video room amongst other infrastructure.”

Kotoko appointed Barreto in March with the hope that his experience would help the club win the Ghana Premier League and MTN FA Cup.

But, after a great start, his side suffered a dip in form and that saw them lose the top spot in the league to fierce rivals Hearts of Oak and get kicked out of the cup competition at the semi-final stage by Berekum Chelsea.
