The defending champions of the African Football Championship(CHAN) , Morocco has backed out of the competition, barely few days to the official debut of the showpiece.
The information was officially made public by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, on Thursday, 12 January 2023.
Their withdrawal from the African soccer Jamboree,is as a result of the sour relationship existing between them and the host Algeria, which has led to the closing of its airspace to all Moroccan flights, adding to borders which has been kept closed since 1994.
The Moroccan withdrawal implies CAF, will now organize the competition with out the defending champions.
Group D and E is hosted by Angola, Making and Mauritania. And Cameroon, Congo and Niger. However Ghana, Madagascar and Sudan in Group C now joins the list.
The Moroccan had earlier conditioned their participation in the Algerian competition, if their national team is not allowed to have a direct flight to Constantine, where they will be based during the tournament.
