The Cameroon women’s handball national team were defeated by Angola on a 29-19 score,in the second consecutive finals of the 2022 edition of the African Women’s Handball Championship, on Saturday, November 19,2022 in Dakar.
The girls of head coach Serge Christian Guebogo, had debuted the encounter, on a positive note with a 5-2 score.
The 15 times African Women’s handball Champions managed to elevated their score to 7-8. And later on equalizing for an 8-8.
The Angolan team made used of their huge tactical know-how, to raise the scores to 8-10, 10-13 and 12-13.
Paola Ebanga, Sifa’n and mates nursed high hopes of reducing the score on several occasions, but were surprisingly unrealistic whenever in the Angolan goal area.
Santos and mates took advantage of Ekoh Karichma’s exclusion and the poor Cameroonian play style to speedily increase their points to 12-17 , 26-16 and finally to 29-19.
The Angolan side have succeeded in conserving their African Women’s Handball Championship title, to the detriment of Cameroon who had carried a huge ambition of uplifting her first ever African trophy.
After putting up a scintillating performance and a clean sheet at the levels of the qualifiers and sem-final. The team now aspires of doing better in the 2023 World Handball Championship co-organized by Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
While waiting for the 2023 edition of the African Women’s Handball Championship, to struggle for another dream trophy.
