The Rector of the University of Ngaoundere, Professor Uphie Chinje epse Melo, has expressed how ready is the University of Ngoaundere to receive more than 5000 athletes to participate in the 2023 edition of the Ngoaundere Varsity Games.
To prepare for a successful University Games, the Local Organizing chaired, Governor of the Adamawa region, Kildadi Taguieke Boukar met on February 13 at the conference room of the Adamawa Regional Council. This meeting was the first preparatory meeting for the University Jamboree slated for April 29- 6 May , 2023.
Speaking on the country’s national station, the Rector of the University of Ngaoundere, Pr Uphie Chinje Florence epse Melo said;
” We are trying to organize everything including the list of everyone to be part of this event. Apart from the athletes, we have other categories such as coordinators and technicians, the media, and even the medical staff.”
« We have set-up various commissions for the success of the event. These commissions include; accommodation, security, catering, finance, marketing« ,Prof Uphie added.
The 23rd edition of the University Games will witnessed the participation of 23 Higher Institutions : eleven state institutions, two public institutions with a special regime. And ten private institutions of higher education.
Plays will be unfold around the theme: » Contribution of the University Games to the construction of peace and sustainable development « . The major innovations brought in for the first time are : Beach Volleyball and Three-by-three basketball. As well as, a cultural display of the Adamawa cultural rhythm, meals and « fantasia« .
The newly created University of Ebolowa, will feature among the tenors accustomed with the University Games. And have been slated to compete in seven disciplines such as ; football, basketball, handball, Volleyball, Athletics, Judo and Wrestling.
