Mbale Heroes head coach Hussein Ali Kheri has passed away, the club has announced on Wednesday morning.

The Club says that Kheri passed away last night after he was admitted in Mbale Regional Referral Hospital.

This is the latest sad news for the club that got relegated to Regional League on Sunday after their goalless draw with Kataka FC.

The club Chairman Wycliff Mwambu said: “It is with deep sorrow and profound shock that I announce the untimely passing on of our Head Coach, Mr. Hussein Kheri.”

Kheri was appointed Mbale Heroes coach in April 2021 when he replaced Bobic Odowa who was sacked after four games.

“Coach Kheri has been with us for a period of close to 3 months having joined us at a time when we needed him most. He managed to bring his football passion to Mbale Heroes which he has handled very well till his death.”

“We will miss him as a person and most importantly his love to mentor and raise football stars. I have no doubt that the void left by his demise will be very difficult to fill.
We implore all our supporters, fans and football lovers to stand with us and his family at this trying moment.”
