30-year old Teranga lions’ talisman Sadio Mane on Sunday,November 20,2022,sent warm words of encouragement to the valiant Senegalese national selection, ahead of their first game opener for the Qatar 2022 World Cup against Netherlands.
The African Award winner and Bavaria goal poacher inked the following message on his Instagram ;
« This Monday, our dear country will compete in the World Cup, Qatar 2022. I am sure the Lions will transcend and approach every game as a true final. »
« I am also convinced that all Senegalese will be in front of the small screen, to support and encourage our valiant national team.« He Added
« Like all supporters of the ‘Taniere’ [lions’ den], I am convinced that, my team-mates will fight as one man and as they usually do to honour our dear Senegal. Long live Senegal, come on the Lions. » Mane concluded
Sadio Mane has been ruled out for the entirety of the World Cup after news he will require surgery on a knee injury he sustained playing for Bayern Munich.
The former Liverpool player came off just 20 minutes into Bayern’s 6-1 win against Werder Bremen at the start of the month complaining of pain around his right fibula and casting his role in Senegal’s campaign into doubt.
The Senegalese men’s national football team shall lock horns against Netherlands on Monday, December 21,2022 at 5 p.m. at the Al Thaumama Stadium.
