Denmark have grabbed a hopeless 0-0 draw, against Tunisia at the City Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar on Tuesday, November 23,2022,after carry high expectations to crush the North Africa team.
The Eagles of Carthage began the game with much energy and motivation, perceived through her crunching tackles of the Danes attackers on several occasions.
The first goal chance for Tunisia, fell to Issam Jebali who forced a fine save from the Danes keeper Kasper Schmeichel. Kasper deflected Jebali’s hot shot, that almost finish at the back of his net.
Tunisia’s midfielder Alissou Laidouni was able to break past, the Danish defensive line but lacked the pace to beat Schmeichel in a face-face-duel. And lost possession of the ball at the last minute.
Tunisia had a penalty claim away, after the referee deemed Joachim Andersen’s hand had been naturally positioned after the ball kick.
The Danes improved after the break and Andreas Skov Olsen, had a goal disallowed for offside before Andreas Cornelius somehow failed to score when he headed against a post.
In the 94th minute, it was the Denmark’s turn to have a penalty turned down after the referee was called over to the VAR screen for a suspected handball.
It was a nervy finish for the Tunisians, who had clearly run out of energy by the end. After orchestrating a litany of goal chances.
Denmark next face France on Saturday, with the game taking even more significance after today’s draw.
Tunisia meanwhile, face Australia on Saturday with a real chance of gunning ,for their first win of the tournament.
